Napoloeon III used the bridge on 1st September 1860 to get to Chamonix, during the celebrations over Savoie's unification with France.

The old bridge of Marignier
Known in its current form since 1788, the "old bridge" was the single crossing point over the Giffre until the arrival of the railway in the 19th century.
