As visitors walk through the museum, they discover the mining activity that was the economic hub of the local area prior to 1961, then the history of the resort of La Plagne through to the tourism boom that we know today. The mine in La Plagne was the first in Savoie and it produced 1/5 of the total production of silver lead in France.
Discover the mine gallery reconstituted with sound and visual effects.
The Heritage Museum is open to the public free of charge in the new Espace Pierra Menta in Plagne Centre. This facility allows you to discover the history of La Plagne through three permanent exhibitions:
Les Mines de La Plagne: once the economic hub of the local area, the history of the silver lead mine is presented here using information boards, objects and period photos.
The bobsleigh: for a long time, bobsleigh was an important social link for the communities of miners who organised competitions on the snow-covered roads between Plagne 1800 and La Roche. This heritage explains why La Plagne was chosen as the site for France's only bobsleigh track, built for the Albertville Olympic Games in 1992.
La Plagne, a history in 10 sites: through a series of period photos, relive the resort's creation, step by step.
