The courthouse

Previously located in the premises of the town hall, the court building had two chambers - one criminal and one civil - but rapidly became too small. Thanks to Napoleon III who visited Bonneville, the current Palais de Justice was built on the quayside of the Arve.

The Palais' architect was Charvet and entrepreneur Gaydon from Saint-Jeoire was in charge of its construction between 1862 and 1866.
Like the Préfecture and the stud farm in Annecy, it was built in Louis XIII style and it had such a reputation, that it was nicknamed "Athens on the Arve riverbanks".
