About

Albiez-Montrond (73300)

The 17th century church of Montrond, with the famous Aiguilles d'Arves in the background, is certainly one of the most photographed sites in the Maurienne. It was restored at the end of the 1990s. Completely rebuilt in 1674, Saint Nicolas Church has a single nave with a cupola over the choir. The recently restored statues from the rood beam have been hung in the choir.
Borrelin and Symond made the main altarpiece in a single piece, and Solomonic columns frame a painting by Dufour (1690) representing the Virgin, Saint Nicholas and Saint Barthelemy.
The Rosary altarpiece has fifteen medallions including a 17th century painting of Mary, St Dominic and St Catherine of Siena.
In 1689, Jomard created the altarpiece painting of St Anthony and St Bernard des Alpes.
