Chapelle Saint-Bernard-de-Menthon (chapel)

The hamlet of Le Bersend is located on a vast plateau, surrounded by rocks and dark forests. In the village centre, a miniscule chapel - which could even be described as an oratory - with exquisite Baroque décor, awaits you!

The chapel was built in 1624 at the end of a period of great plague and pestilence...and, during the course of the 20th century, has withstood two successive fires that afflicted the village.
It is located on the site of old mule paths, along the route between the main village, pastures and mountains passes, and is dedicated to Saint Bernard-de-Alpes, the patron of travelers and mountaineers.
At the back of its chancel, behind the curtain, you'll find its altarpiece-painting and images of holy people.
