Long before hang-gliding fans discovered the aerological qualities of this place, the Sapenay Viewpoint was already attracting its first tourists. After the war, the views over the Lac du Bourget, la Chautagne, the Vallée du Rhône and the lower foothills of the nearby Jura made the viewpoint a popular destination for those lucky enough to have a car.
