This natural reserve is managed by the ASTERS Association, and protects the local fauna and flora. Here you can find species that include the common merganser (large, fish-eating duck), the kingfisher, the common sandpiper (small wader), reed warbler, great crested grebe, grey heron.
The area attracts a good many waterbirds during the winter months: tufted ducks and common pochards (diving ducks and surface ducks...)
The beaver, which is a protected species throughout the region, can also be seen here.
The flora in the reserve consists largely of alluvial forest trees - white alders - and plants: small bullrush and ophrys bourdon (spider orchid).
