The beautiful descent never gets over-technical. Access to the departure point is quick and easy thanks to Mélezet gondola lift which drops you just 800 metres away. The trail is steep in places but only for short sections. There are no highly technical areas but it's a good idea to take constant care and control your speed. Most of the trail is through a larch forest where sufficient light filters through the canopy to generate a pleasant atmosphere.
The name "vipérine" could come from an alcoholic spirit made with a snake in the bottle, or from a flowering plant of the borage family.
You'll find out which is the answer along the way.
