Jean-Marie Delavay was a priest born in Les Gets in 1834.
In 1867, he was sent to China on an ecclesiastical mission, and took the opportunity to discover the local flora. A great botanical enthusiast, he collected more than 200,000 plants, which are currently in the Museum of Natural History in Paris.
In 2017, the Jean-Marie Delavay Association created this botanical garden to pay tribute to him and to showcase his discoveries: peonies, irises, lilacs, rowan, cherry trees...
