Cultural Exhibition - Termignon au fil des roches Val-Cenis

About

On Sunday 01 January 2023
Val-Cenis (73500)

Situated at the interface of several geological units, the immediate surroundings of Termignon are a great place to embrace the diversity of Alpine rocks: calcschist, micaschist, gypsum, "cargneule", limestone, dolomite, marble, quartzite…

Some of these rocks contain a host of metallic ores, which have been extensively researched and exploited in the past – a centuries-old mining history now fading into oblivion.

Discarding complicated words and concepts in favour of images, this exhibition shows the distinctive aspects of our various rocks in the mountainscape.

For those curious to learn more about the illustrated sites, a companion brochure is available from the Office du tourisme.
