How wonderful it is to be able to walk so peacefully through the streets of
Modane to the Chemin du Petit Bonheur trail, cherished by the locals!
No, you're not dreaming, you really are on one of the oldest trails in Haute
Maurienne Vanoise. This trail is a real celebrity: it's even been assigned its
own status.
You take a few enjoyable breaks, as intriguing oratories of the Notre-Dame
du Charmaix pilgrimage plunge you into the past. How old is the Church of
Modane, built with gray stones from La Praz? Surviving through the ages, it's
seen its fair share of action! The bell tower proudly withstood the bombing
of 1943. Can you find a sign of this on one of the stones on its north face?
After delving deep into history, wander through pine forests and heather at
your leisure, soaking in the scents of resin and forest humus as you follow
the tumultuous Saint-Antoine torrent that'll accompany you all the way to La
Norma. What a luxury to be able to enjoy a refreshing nap in the wellness
bubble of the Avenières water basin; a real "petit bonheur" (little pleasure)!
