It was comprised of a military fortress, a temporary residence of the lords of the Vuache and an administrative centre of the mandate. So, if you had lived in the 15th century in one of the 4 parisges belonging to the lords of the Vuache (Vulbens, Bans, Chevrier and Dingy) you would have regularly gone to the castle to pay taxes! This building was abandoned in the middle of the 17th century, when the headquarters of the seigneury were transferred to the neighbouring hamlet of Faramaz. The building probably served as a quarry before gradually disappearing over the course of the following two centuries.
