Continue along the road, through Avérole and take the track on the left which leads to the foot of the refuge. Allow 20 minutes to follow the fairly steep path up to the refuge. Continue on the right bank to the Pas de la Mule pass. Cross the Lombarde stream and go up to the herdsmen's cabin, then turn right onto the path which follows the left bank down, via the Oratory of Saint-Antoine de l'Envers. It winds a little before reaching the footbridge across the stream.
