Lake and Refuge of Presset

This amazing lake of altitude is overlooked by the refuge of Presset and situated above Roselend. It's possible to access up there by Arêches or Beaufort : the road is on the way of Le Col du Pré and then, take the forest track on the way of Treicol (parking).

0/ Parking Treicol
1/ Continue the alpine trail to reach the GR5 (red and white marks). Orange sign: Presset le Bas, then Presset to the Col du Bresson.
You will see the herds of cows and the alpine chalets, especially the Conchette chalet where the Beaufort cheese is made.
2/ From the Col du Bresson, take the road to the left towards the refuge of Presset.
From the refuge of Presset, splendid view of the famous Pierra Menta (the middle stone) monolithic majestic recognizable from afar, that gave its name to the mythical ski mountaineering race. The area of Presset is ideal for watching the many ibex and for picnicking next to the lake.
3/ The return route is the same.

By car:
- From Beaufort take the D625 which leads to the Roselend Dam. Pass on the dam and go up towards the Col du Pré. At the 5th turn, take the alpine trail and park at Treicol.
- From Arêches, take the road to the Col du Pré and further the restaurant la Pierra menta, take the first turn on the Treicol trail to the car park.
