From the Bouquetin parking lot, follow “Route des Fontanettes” road until you reach the hairpin turn near the “Telemark” residence. The trail starts on the uphill side of the road, at the bottom of some scree.
As you walk through the forest, marvel at the spruce trees, the most prevalent tree in Pralognan although a few pine trees here and three bear witness to times when the climate was drier.
Along the trail you have to cross over “Creuse des Pariettes,” a channel carved out by the mud flows that occur on a regular basis during big summer thunderstorms.
After Barme des Chèvres, take the first trail on your left, and then the forest road until you reach the Clous parking lot at the small village/hamlet of Les Granges. Continue walking along the forest road above Les Granges back to “Routes des Fontanettes” road.
Another option for the descent: after Barme des Chèvres, continue on the trail that contours along the hillside to Leschaux Ravine, and then take the forest road back downhill to Les Granges.
