Description of the appellation : Today, Abondance cheese is made by around 50 farmers and small cheesemakers, known in France as “fruitiéres”. The cheese is made from the fresh milk of just three races of cow: Abondance, Tarine and Montbeliard; it’s produced in the Haute-Savoie mountains, in the region stretching from Abondance valley to the Aravis range, which also takes in Mont Blanc country.
