About

Les Houches (74310)
Animals not allowed

In the past, families from Vaudagne, a hamlet of Les Houches, occupied the alpine pastures of Mont Borrel and Manchoir in spring and autumn.
This practice implies a particular organization, punctuated by the seasonality of agricultural work. With the decline of agropastoralism, these mountain pastures, exploited since the end of the Middle Ages, were progressively abandoned in the 1950s before becoming places for walking.
The exhibition of the Montagnard Museum relates the memory of these spaces and of those who lived there, to better evoke their current evolution.
