Claire Chesnier's ink paintings deliver to the eye unseen spaces that proceed from the gesture of colour for its own sake. In the process of their execution, they call for the slow and silent deposition of the medium used in a succession of layers that determine them to the order of a presence and an elevation. There is a kind of epiphany of colour that leads the painting to invent its own landscapes.
