Exhibition at the Visitation Chapel: Alexandre Léger, a halo of strangeness

Basically a draughtsman, but also a sculptor in the sense of an object-maker, Alexandre Leger has developed a body of work that is off the beaten track, blending popular and learned culture with a sensitive experience in a whirlwind of disquieting and delightful forms.

His art readily combines the strange, if not the bizarre, with all tenses and all modes. With a pencil, an eraser, a box of colours, a paintbrush, a scalpel, a sheet of paper, a notebook, a piece of wood, etc., the artist has no equal when it comes to embracing the situations that present themselves to him in his imagination and composing them with what preoccupies him, what he has glimpsed, even experienced or imagined. Drunk with images and words, his art feeds on all sorts of interpretations, appropriations and inventions, mixing the serious and the humorous, the empirical and the rational, the trivial and the poetic.

In a kind of anthology, the Thonaise exhibition brings together a whole range of works designed to showcase the artist's inexhaustible formal inventiveness.
