The start of the hike is quite steep, but don't be discouraged! You are in the shade in the forest, accompanied by the song of the nant which flows below.
On the final climb to the pass, take a moment to admire the scenery and listen to the whistling of the marmots.
Here you are in the heart of the Hunting and Wildlife National Reserve where it is not uncommon to see chamois and mouflons.

Caution! On this route, you will cross mountain pastures.
Herds may be present, watched over by patous (herding dogs). Be vigilant. Before setting off, find out how to behave in the presence of patous and remember to close the fences behind you so that the animals do not escape.
This itinerary crosses the Hautes Bauges wildlife reserve, dogs are prohibited.

D/ Nant Fourchu car park
1/ Follow the road for 300m and turn left on the wide, fairly steep path (signs).
2/ Go straight ahead on the pastoral track up to the chalets and then take the small path that leads to the pass.
3/ On the way down, as you leave the mountain pasture, you can take the Coutarse forest track on the left and reach the Nant Fourchu car park via the Coutarse refuge.
