Take advantage of an early-morning warm-up to enjoy the peace and quiet of the Plan du Lac plateau. You may even come across the marmots that have made their home in the high meadows. The gentle slopes quickly give you the chance to take a close look at the Vanoise glaciers. With a clear sky, you'll have the chance to peer into the distance at Dôme de Chasseforêt and Grande Casse, which seem to be watching over you. Gradually make your way into the Rocheure valley. Its torrent is sure to make a generous noise at the start of the snowmelt season. Your arrival at the refuge de la Femma heralds a contemplative evening in the intimacy of a protected natural area accessible only on foot.

Departing from : Val-Cenis (73500)

Take the Bellecombe road out of Termignon towards Val-Cenis Lanslebourg: 10 km of narrow, winding road. Recommended to take the shuttle bus in summer. Easy to hitchhike for a drop-off without worrying about return logistics. Further information in the HMV mobility guide.
