Over the course of a short hike, I propose gentle exercises to help you prepare your body for the effort involved in a hike. Simple gestures, finding your breathing rhythm; exercises you can easily repeat whenever you like.
Body positioning when walking is essential to avoid expending more energy than necessary when hiking.
What posture should you adopt when walking?
What breathing rhythm should you use when climbing?
How can you prepare for a descent without worrying about sore knees at the end?
These exercises will help you get ready if you're aiming for a long trek of one or more days, and to re-energize yourself after each day to recover from the effort you've put in.
It's just a discovery to connect with yourself, to become aware of the muscles in action, how to place your foot, which part of the body moves first.
