Situated on the old mule trails, which were an essential link between the main village and the mountain pastures or passes, it is dedicated to Saint Bernard-de-Alpes, protector of travelers and mountaineers.
At the back of the choir, a theatrical curtain opens to reveal the altarpiece and representations of the saints...

Saint Bernard de Menthon chapel (Bersend)

The chapel was built in 1624, at the end of the period of the great plague epidemics... and in the 20th century it withstood two successive fires that affected the village!
