Filly is located on the south shore of Lake Geneva, where, around 1600, pilgrims
Valais and Haut-Chablais to avoid the Protestant Genevois. An inscription dating from 1605, accompanied by a carved shell on the entrance façade of a house, bears witness to Filly's history, closely linked to its abbey. Nothing remains of the religious site. But several stone houses, now privately owned, grace the entrance to the hamlet from the main road. "These buildings constituted the Commanderie de la Côte de Bois, founded by the Order of Saint-Maurice and Lazarus. It was this commandery that managed the assets of Filly Abbey. We're at the beginning of the 17th century," explains the Sciezoise, facing the imposing archway at the entrance to one of the properties. "The site was sold as national property during the French Revolution. Three families from Filly and another from Le Lyaud bought the various houses.
