The church vestibule - as with all Maurienne churches - is designed to protect from freezing blasts of air. After all, it's important to protect the faithful from the cold, particularly at this altitude. That said, in winter, when it's capped in white, standing on a blanket of snow, the building does look particularly charming...
Perched on its promontory, this little church is a unique gem of a building, full of exceptional elements: the vaulted ceiling with its floral decoration - painted with a stencil, the chancel with its trompe l'oeil, the confessional crafted from stone pine wood, right down to the finely chiselled handle on the entrance gate which is classified as a listed monument! And there is so much more to discover besides.
Simplicity, color and perfection await you inside Saint-Laurent Church!
