If the seven sections of the Devil bear such evocative names; it is perhaps that the quality of their courses deserves to include them in the bible of the ferratists. One thing is certain: you are going to spend a day in paradise with the 3,760 meters of this surprising and magnificent “loop” route.
A strategic lock in the passage to Italy, the chain of five Esseillon forts has been watching over the Mont-Cenis pass since 1832. Opposite the Vanoise National Park, between Fort Victor-Emmanuel and the Marie-Thérèse Redoubt, opens a large circus traversed by the via ferrata du Diable.
It is one of the most beautiful and largest via ferrata in the Alps. The landscapes in the Arc gorges are magnificent; the atmosphere is wild (especially in the off season or in winter when there is no one there); we climb in the middle of swallows, swifts or tichodromes. The routes are varied, climbs, descents, crossings, with many footbridges of different types and the landscape near a waterfall and in the forts of Esseillon. It is certainly the major tourist facility in the summer of Haute Maurienne: a must for children or beginner climbers passing through! Good climbers will be able to immerse themselves in the beauty of the landscapes.
