About

Chamonix-Mont-Blanc (74400)

The Compagnie des Guides de Chamonix perpetuates the passion and know-how of its elders, pioneers in the discovery of mountaineering.
Summer is all about mountains in all their forms: from initiation to improvement, from our must-see trips such as the Tour du Mont Blanc, our junior raids, our Mont Blanc training courses... through our children's programs from 3 years old, to mountaineering in the biggest North faces!

    1 2

The Compagnie des Guides de Chamonix wishes to take climate change into account in all its actions.
As such, we are committed to avoiding and reducing as far as possible all our emissions, with the aim of becoming carbon neutral by 2025!
To reduce our direct emissions (operations & activities), we have introduced the following measures
    - Eliminating all our trips outside Haute Savoie, Savoie, Valais and Val d'Aoste, and all our day activities more than 60 km from Chamonix. When we are asked to operate outside these areas, we refer our clients to local guide companies.
    - Optimization of luggage transport on our trips and widespread use of public transport.
    - Introduction of telecommuting for our employees, reduction of our minibus fleet, and remote working for our guides.
Known the world over, Chamonix attracts an international clientele that relies in part on air travel. Although it is difficult for us to take concrete action on our indirect emissions (customer journeys), we have nevertheless introduced the following measures:
    - Development of a carbon calculator to calculate the impact of home - Chamonix journeys.
    - Elimination of all promotional activities in long-haul destinations.
Offsetting without questioning our activities makes no sense to us. Reduction and elimination are the priority, and offsetting should be a last resort.
By 2025, our direct emissions (operations & activities) will be fully offset. The equivalent amount will be donated to our FOEHN environmental fund to support local awareness-raising and conservation initiatives.
