In the 18th century, Notre Dame de la Vie enjoyed a great devotion in the whole valley. In 1779, a dedicated chapel was erected at the entrance of « Pré Benoit ».
One century later, weakened by the years, this chapel needed a renovation and a blessing marked the end of the works in 1875. It was at the same period that the chapel was dedicated to Notre Dame de la Salette.
During the Revolution, it was a rearward base for the persecuted priests that came celebrating the cult and later, it was a tradition to celebrate a mass every 19th of September.
Under the Occupation of France, the chapel was used as a hiding place for those who resisted the Compulsory Work Service (Service du Travail Obligatoire ; STO). They fit in a small dormitory under the vault.
The chapel has been recently restored (2016) by a core of volunteers.
