Opened in 1891 consequently to a great mobilization of the inhabitants of the hamlet, this school used to have one classroom only, which didn’t prevent it from welcoming up to 50 pupils!
In 1939, at the beginning of World War 2, the man teacher at the main village school is mobilized, so the woman teacher in La Minière leaves her school to replace him and all the children go to the same school.
In 1944, the hamlet is nearly completely destroyed (80%). Once their houses are destroyed, the inhabitants move to towns or to the valley and the school never reopens.
In 1995, the local council opens the school museum. The furniture present in it has been given by inhabitants from St Georges and other villages nearby.
