About

Departing from Aillon-le-Jeune (73340)
Average length : 04h15
Distance : 7km
Signed walking trail

Starting from Penon: take the path in front of the basin (alt. 1,400 m.), which goes up behind the houses. From the start, the slope is quite steep and flat passages are rare. The path goes through the woods with some hairpin bends. Follow the summer trail markings (yellow arrows on a green background).
After the hardwood forest, the trail continues through the fir trees.
At around 1,230 m. you will come across the track from Lindar. You can go directly to the building or follow the road. Continue a few meters above Morbié to take the path indicated by the sign: “Mont Pelat 1hr 30 min”. It takes you to the Col de la Sciaz at 1,338 m. on the edge of the ski run.
The last part within sight of the summit is the least steep. As you go along, the panorama stretches out around you: on the right, the Isère Valley with the Belledonnes mountain range in the foreground and further north, the Dent d’Arclusaz and the peaks of the Bauges mountains.
On your left, you will see the Aillon resort below and in the distance the ski area of Margériaz. The summit deserves a pause to enjoy a 360° panoramic view. If you want to stay away from the skiers, you can go along the small ridge that leads you to the summit of Mont Morbié. To return, follow the same route.
