At the far end of Les Granges, from the Les Clous parking lot, follow the forest road along the edge of the forest. Higher up, the trail crosses the ridgeline and the avalanche barriers that protect Les Granges. The huge dirt dike was built to protect the last few houses of the village-hamlet and channels avalanches that rip down the mountain from Col de Leschaux Pass.
The hike takes you to the left, away from the avalanche barriers and across “Couloir des Rossets”.
Continue along the switchbacks up a short, steep, narrow gully until your reach the plateau.
From this fantastic overlook, enjoy views of the glacier-capped Dômes de la Vanoise, the entire Pralognan basin, and the 13km long Chavière Valley. Turn your gaze west towards Dent du Villard Peak, with its sugar bread shape and its rock-spire covered slopes, as well as the astonishing Crête du Mont Charvet ridgeline that separates the valleys of Pralognan and Courchevel.
Feel free to spend a little time to stretch your arms and lounge around the wide open plateau where you may even see a black grouse take off in flight.
Walk back downhill to your starting point (1 hr 15 min) on the same trail.

ALTERNATIVES
From Mt. Chevrier, you can walk back downhill (heading north) via the Allée chalets to the village-hamlet of La Nova or even hike to the Grand Bec Hut via Bois des Fours forest. The latter option is the first stage of a two-day hike that includes spending the night in the hut and hiking back to Pralognan the next day via Col de Leschaux Pass.
