CURIOSITIES
The Hospice du Petit Saint-Bernard:
First erected in the 9th century, the hospice is a symbol of a long tradition of
hospitality. It offered food and a bed to any passers-by who risked getting
caught in bad weather. Now renovated, the hospice provides information and
houses an interactive exhibition on the history of the pass.
The Joux column:
Located next to the Hospice, the Joux column is a monolith upon which sits a statue of Saint-Bernard of Menthon, patron saint of mountaineers.
The Alpine Gardens at Chanousia:
Located at an altitude of 2,172m, this Alpine garden includes some 1,000 species of mountain plants. It is open to the public from July to mid-September.

ITINERARY:
0/ From the Hospice du Petit Saint-Bernard, take the path behind the building which zigzags through the grassy slopes,
1/ Follow the signs for Lac Sans Fond (Lac Sans Fond Circuit).
2/ After about a 45 minutes' walk you will come to a fork in the path. Go right at the fork and head up to the Lancebranlette summit. Warning! This section includes a steep path.
3/ Come back down via the same route. You can also go by to the Lac Sans Fond.
