The departure point is the Lignon car park above the Rouget waterfall. Pass the beautiful Sauffaz and Pleureuse waterfalls, then go right and follow the path alongside the mountain stream. The path leads to the "Clos de Sales", a wide bench where there was once a lake, overlooked by the face of the Pointe de Sales on the left.
After a footbridge, continue on the "Pas de Sales", a secured path on the rock face. Equipped with guardrails, the path presents no real difficulty. The Sales waterfall is on your left and if you look behind you you'll see the glacier and the Ruan massif. Follow the path up to the Trainant waterfall and onto the Sales mountain pasture where you'll find the Sales refuge just a few metres away.
This relatively easy hike takes about 4 1/2 hours, including the return trip via the same route.
