This easy forest walk starts in the centre of the village of La Chapelle d'Abondance near the small chapel of Notre Dame de la Compassion. You will start by walking up the road to Chevenne where you can make a short stop at the deer park.
You will then take the direction of La Plagne for about 800 m to join a small path in the forest.
This forest has a rich vegetation, notably a large variety of trees, you will be able to recognize spruce, fir, beech, rowan, ash or maple...
When you reach a scree slope, the landscape will offer you a magnificent view of the Mont de Grange, Châtel and the Dents du Midi.
You will then reach Chevenne, the mountain setting of its mountain pastures is superb with the south face of the Cornettes de Bise, its mountain chalets and its stream. A "snack" break will be welcome!
You will also be able to observe numerous varieties of flowers from different environments, such as the red cephalanther, which lives near the scree slopes, or the marsh buttercup, which nestles on the edge of the streams.
The descent to the village is via a path along the stream. There is a fitness trail on site where you can do some stretching and agility exercises. The descent is then via the small tarmac road following the Chevenne stream.
