Chollière - Rocher des Singes (Monkey Rock)

One of the area’s classic family hikes! In the past, locals lived the quaint village-hamlet of Chollière during the summer grazing and hay harvesting season. Today it is a fantastic place to relax and enjoy the great outdoors.

Departing from Pralognan-la-Vanoise (73710)
Average length : 01h15
Signed walking trail

From the Bouquetin parking lot, walk up the main street and then head towards Isertan. Do not enter the “Le Chamois” campground; continue straight until you reach the edge of the forest where the trail no. 34 heads left.
This great family hike first winds around Isertan Forest’s massive spruce trees. Then, as if in the fairy tale “Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs,” a chalet with red shutters suddenly appears in a clearing by the river. Your kids will be amazed!
Further along, you will come to “Rocher des Singes” (Monkey Rock) and then Chollière’s bucolic setting on the hillside, the village well protected by the forest.
Take advantage of the time you spend in Chollière to explore the surrounding alpine meadows and prairies on trail no. 69 and marvel at the fantastic views of Grande Casse Peak.

ALTERNATIVES for the ascent:
Trail no. 66
In the village, head towards Chavière Valley. The trailhead is located to the left of a hairpin turn in the road at the far end of a straightaway on the plateau/open area in Pralognan. This is a great alternative for the hike up and down.
Trail no. 67, known as the “Ecureuils” (Squirrels) trail or the “Route de Creux”.
The trailhead is the same as for trail no. 66. We recommend taking this trail on the descent to enjoy one of the most beautiful loops in the Chollière area.
Trail no. 68, known as the “La Portetta” trail
When leaving Le Plan, head towards Les Prioux or Chavière Vallée. The trailhead is located along the edge of the road on the right.
