What to see / What to know :
You can reach the village of Bonvillard and its hostel by following the cross-country ski trail: 2 km return. Be careful not to get caught in the dark.

0/ Start - From the Foyer nordique du Chaussy, opposite the welcome sign, turn right and pass behind the foyer. Join the cross-country ski trail coming from Bonvillard and cross it.
1/ Follow the itinerary along this track, staying above it. At the end of the Tovachet plateau, the itinerary descends through the woods to join the cross-country ski trail coming from Bonvillard, crossing it to join a path leading down to Bergein.
2/ Then turn right, cross the black cross-country ski trail and continue on the itinerary that winds through woods and clearings. At the crossroads with the cross-country ski trail to Bonvillard village, turn left to return to Col du Chaussy.
3/ The route climbs steadily through woodland and open space to reach the cross-country ski trail. Follow it to the left, then turn left to cross it.
4/ Follow the path up to a clearing, turn right and climb under the power line. Follow the route towards Col du Chaussy, skirting the Libertour stream.

By road from Saint-Jean-de-Maurienne / Col du Chaussy :
Special equipment is mandatory and must be used in case of snow in winter.

Follow A43, E70 and A43 towards D906 at La Tour-en-Maurienne. Take exit 27 and leave the A43
At the first traffic circle, take the 3rd exit onto D906
At the second traffic circle, take the 1st exit onto Rte de la Cascade / D77

By road to access the Saint-François-Longchamp / Bonvillard side :

Follow A43, E70 and A43 towards D927 at Sainte-Marie-de-Cuines. Take exit 26 and leave the A43
Head for Saint-François-Longchamp on the RD213, then turn right uphill towards Montaimont on the D99.

Caution! In winter, the road between Col du Chaussy and Bonvillard (commune of Montaimont / Saint-François-Longchamp) is closed to cars.

From Italy to Maurienne :
Follow A43. Take exit 28 towards Saint Jean de Maurienne.
At the traffic circle, take the 3rd exit onto D1006
Take the D906 exit toward A43/Lyon/Albertville/Chambéry/Saint Jean de Maurienne/Hermillon
Take the D77 toward your destination
Turn right at D906

By train :
SCNF "Saint-Jean-de-Maurienne" station 19 km away for access on the Col du Chaussy side, finish by cab. No shuttle service.

Saint-Avre / La Chambre" train station, 11 km from Bonvillard. Bus shuttles from Saint-François-Longchamp to Bonvillard only.
