Circuit de la Reine

This nice loop reaches Lake Aiguebelette, and comes back to its starting point through the splendid hill of Saint-Franc. This well-named “Circuit de la reine”, because of the time Queen Victoria might have spent at the castle of La Bauche to enjoy the benefits of ferruginous water, can also be done from the Maison du lac d’Aiguebelette.

(3) After the centre of the village of La Bauche, the castle, surrounded by a nice wrought iron fence, appears on your left.
(4) About 1 km after the exit sign of La Bauche, at the place known as “Grand Chemin”, take right at the junction (do not follow Attignat-Oncin). This small road leads to the chief-place of Attignat-Oncin.
(5) Take the B-road D39 and then the road D39a, which allows you to reach Lépin-le-Lac with nice views on the lake.

(8) Go up for several kilometers until you meet again, on the right, the b-road D39 to St Franc. Take this nice rising road where panoramic views over the Chartreuse alternate with fir tree forests.
(9) After St Franc’s church, stay on the D39 to Les Échelles. The road zigzags on the hillside to finally meet the D1006. There, take left to Chambéry/Les Échelles.
(10) In front of the Auberge du Morge turn left on the small Tartarin road, which goes up for a few hundred meters, before going down to Les Échelles.
