Cordon is a scattered settlement grouped around its numerous springs. Traditional, oriented houses house animals downstream and people upstream, under the same roof. Hay is stored upstairs to feed the livestock during heavy snowfalls, without having to leave the house. The local materials used are wood, torrent stone and, after 1840, granite. The pond, the bread oven and the attic, close by but out of reach of the fire, complete the organization of the "farms" in the face of long winters.
