Over the years, La Grande Odyssée VVF has established itself as the meeting place for the mushers' elite. In 2025, the race will celebrate its 20th anniversary, when 65 mushers and their 600 top-level athlete dogs will set off for 14 days of racing, 400 km and 12,000 meters of ascent between Haute Savoie, Savoie and Isère.
The mass-start on the vast Bessans plateau is a must-see. The teams set off in a single line, with dozens of dogs stamping their feet, ready to fight it out to be the first to reach the end of the plateau.
This stage also passes through the neighboring resort of Bonneval sur Arc before arriving at the Col du Mont Cenis, at an altitude of 2,000 meters.
A great spectacle, with free entertainment in the start village.

Stage 7A - Bessans - Grande Odyssée VVF
Once again, Bessans welcomes the legendary "mass-start" of La Grande Odyssée VVF. Dozens of dog sled teams will be on hand to set off together. A grandiose stage with a finish at the Col du Mont-Cenis.

Reception
Presence of domestic dogs (even on a leash) prohibited on the day of the stage at the start site, near the tracks used by the race and the mushers parking lot.
