Synopsis:
At the dawn of the 20th century, at a time when the world was fascinated by moving images, the fruit of experiments by Edison and the Lumière brothers, young Alice Guy was hired as a secretary by Léon Gaumont. In her spare time, she began making whimsical short films to promote the company's chronophotograph. Their success was immediate: promoted to production manager at Gaumont, the young woman of unbridled creativity made some two hundred short and medium-length films over a period of ten years, before embarking for New York, where in 1910, with her husband Herbert Blaché, she founded her own production company. At the height of its popularity, the powerful Solax produced up to two films a week, making Alice Guy the highest-paid businesswoman in the United States...
Told in the first person, this beautiful documentary restores this pioneer to her rightful place.
