Over the years, La Grande Odyssée VVF has established itself as the meeting place for the mushers' elite. In 2025, the race will celebrate its 20th anniversary, when 65 mushers and their 600 top-level athlete dogs will set off for 14 days of racing, 400 km and 12,000 meters of ascent between Haute Savoie, Savoie and Isère.
Stage 7B, between the Col du Mont Cenis and the center of the Val Cenis resort, is one of the most eagerly-awaited stages for the mushers. Arriving from Bessans the day before, mushers sleep in tents with their dogs. Departure is in the morning. The public can easily watch the start by taking the La Ramasse chairlift.
It's also an opportunity to meet the professional mushers taking part in the race, to discover this natural, open-air activity and to enjoy a dog sled ride with the "Chiens du Mont-Cenis", who are present all winter at Mont Cenis.
The finish of this stage will take place in the heart of the resort, with plenty of free entertainment on site.
