For three days and three evenings, the valley comes alive: while some of the festival-goers are at altitude, iF3 Chamonix develops its film program in the Vox cinema, but also in bars, and offers conferences, meetings with athletes, and parties with DJs. Although the iF3 Chamonix takes place in various locations around town, the heart of the festival is at the Vox cinema, where each screening gives rise to discussions with the athletes and directors, and inspires the enthusiasm of spectators as prizes and sponsor gifts are handed out. This year, several French athletes who won awards at the Canadian edition of the festival will receive their prizes during the film screenings on Friday December 6 and Saturday December 7.
The festival offers a wide range of mountain activities. The aim is to prepare those who wish to do so for their new season. Statistics show that the number of accidents in the mountains increases during the winter season. That's why the iF3 is taking a stand for the safety of those involved, and offering mini-training courses. Some examples of these activities are preparing a mountain itinerary and carrying it out in the field, or learning/reviewing rope techniques and glacier rescue techniques. The safety aspect in no way detracts from the playful, jovial aspect of iF3 activities, which remain the essence of days spent in the mountains through, among other things, freeride sessions, or the discovery of a supervised activity to move towards autonomy. Learning or revising mountain safety aspects will be an integral part of the outings.
The 2024 edition of iF3 Chamonix will take place in the heart of the Grands Montets ski area. During the resort's opening weekend (Saturday and Sunday, December 8), iF3 will offer equipment testing, information and demo stands. A DJ will be on hand for both days, and food and drink will be available on site.
