From June 5 to 11, 2023, Bourg-Saint-Maurice will host the French paragliding championship. The 120 best French pilots and 30 international pilots are expected.
The main take-off will be at the Fort de la Plate. Known to the competitors, this site has been used for many years and can accommodate a large number of pilots. The main landing is at Les Ilettes. Unavoidable, it is one of the largest landing sites in Savoie.
PRINCIPLE OF A ROUND :
Several beacons must be flown over to validate the course. A beacon is a GPS point and a radius around this point. The pilots must enter this virtual cylinder to validate this beacon. For a round, there are usually 3 to 8 beacons to validate which make a course between 50 and 150 km to do without landing. The first one to complete the course wins the round and scores 1000 points. The following ones will have a decreasing number of points compared to the first one. The sum of all the rounds of the week determines the champion.
