This hour-long concert is about love, legendary tales and sometimes tragedy, as the word and first name "Shirin" suggest, an emblematic female character in Persian literature. It oscillates between poetry and music and brings together several generations and destinies linked to Iran. "Sodaye Shirin" is made up of original songs written by Fiona Sanjabi, a Franco-Iranian, poems set to music: texts by Rumi (13th century), the poetess Forough Farrokhzad (20th century), and covers of pop standards, notably by 70s divas such as Googoosh, Hayedeh...

Accompanied by Martin Mahieu, Fiona Sanjabi wanders with her voice through the ages, the texts and the melodies, to the sound of a sensitive amplified guitar. Together they offer a dreamlike ballad with folk, rock and funk influences and a unique Persian-style blues.

The Parsi Parla festival was born of the desire to bring Persian artistic culture, its music, its instruments, its literature and its colours to as many people as possible.
