Charcoal exhibition - "Ladders" by Robin SUIFFET

The mountain is the earth that folds into a vertical shape. A personalized figure, moreover, since mountains are given names.

Robin Suiffet states that he lives and works in Annemasse. He places himself under the aegis of a mountain that moves, that can move, that of Kant and the feeling of the sublime. The titles of Robin Suiffet's exhibitions - Infrastructures, Des galeries sous la montagne, Enterré sous le lac, Des carnets sous la montagne - generate a shiver of anxiety; Ramuz is not far away... Is it this great fear of the mountain so close that inspires his quest for the sublime, constantly renewed in painting, engraving, text and film?

It's a conceptual quest that is anchored in the material, the notched wood of traditional Savoyard practice, the light that continues the notch or metamorphoses its appearance, even colouring it, and finally the water that dilutes the inkjet print to create a space of confusion and shipwreck in the image, to keep us moving without going round in circles in the night".
