Conférence - Vie et survie des glaciers de paroi

The dynamics of large alpine and polar glaciers are increasingly well known, but the dynamics of small glaciers on steep, high-altitude slopes have been the subject of very few studies

Cultural Conférence - Vie et survie des glaciers de paroi Argentière

On Tuesday 16 August 2022 from 18:00:00 in 19:30:00
Argentière (74400)

Depending on their thickness, they can be "hanging glaciers" when they have a very steep front from which dangerous seracs are detached (Aiguille du Midi, Taconnaz...), or "glacier-snow covers" which are less thick and dear to mountaineers (the Shroud of the Grandes Jorasses, the Nant Blanc at the Aiguille Verte...) Their small size makes these glaciers very sensitive to climate change. They can then become the source of new risks for the high mountain practitioners and the valleys, or mean the disappearance of real archives on the environments of the past.

Free of charge.
