The Dufresne-Sommeiller hospital on the Bonatrait estate in La Tour turned 100 in 2023. A hospital of this scale in a town with a population of less than 500 at the time is quite remarkable. It's the result of a long history, stemming from an initial donation around 1210 and then a final bequest in 1903, with the role of one man in between, Dr Pierre Dufresne, who built up a significant estate during the French Revolution. His grandson Germain Dufresne handed it over to the French state.
