Constant Rey-Millet (1905-1959) was a painter from La Tour, where he was mayor from 1937 to 1940. Attracted to the arts and literature from an early age, he spent his life rubbing shoulders with many painters and writers, and befriended Paul Gay, a doctor in Saint-Jeoire and founder of Art au Village.
Essentially a self-taught painter, he produced village scenes, still lifes and portraits, as well as works in gouache (the "Seminole" period) and watercolor pencil drawings, his last works and final attempts.
Stéphane Rochette, gallery owner, author and specialist in the work of Constant Rey-Millet, offers a better understanding of this long-forgotten painter and his works.
