Every summer the Chamonix Organ Festival is the highlight of the Chamonix musical season. The year 2022 will be the 27th year of this festival with, as every year, great organists and talented artists.
In 1992 an organ builder from Grenoble, Michel GIROUD, built the splendid organ of 25 stops which currently occupies the gallery of the church of St Michel, with its two cases surrounding the famous stained glass window overlooking the church square. This beautiful realization was made possible thanks to the help of the Municipality and, through the Association of the Friends of the Organ, to that of many Chamonix residents and friends of the Valley. In 1994 the Association, which had set itself the goal of maintaining the organ and providing musical entertainment around the instrument, launched, with the help of the Municipality, a first summer organ festival which had a great impact. All concerts are at 5 p.m. with free admission.
