Pergolesi's Stabat Mater, written at the age of 26 in the final weeks before his death, is one of those poignant works with which great composers bequeathed a lifetime of work to posterity. A great masterpiece, on a par with Haydn's Harmoniemesse or Mozart's Requiem. The next concert by the vocal ensemble In Octo and the Camerata du Mont-Blanc opens with this choice piece.
Also on the program are JS Bach's famous Aria from Suite No. 3 in D Major BWV 1068, Cantata BWV 196 "Der Herr denket an uns" and Gabriel Fauré's Cantique de Jean Racine.
The concert will close with a surprise, heralding further programs for the two groups together.
